A pair of bouts featuring former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ season 14 veterans have been added to the upcoming UFC on Fox 3 show in May.
Johnny Bedford, who was originally scheduled to fight at UFC on Fox 2 until his opponent Mitch Gagnon fell into some visa issues getting into the country, will return to action and face Nick Denis.
Meanwhile former housemate and finalist Dennis Bermudez will face off with Pablo Garza in a featherweight bout on the card.
UFC officials confirmed bout fights on Friday.
Bedford gets his first fight since the TUF 14 finale where he brutalized former housemate Louis Gaudinot. With his fight in January being delayed, he’ll be well rested when he gets back in the cage in May.
Nick Denis made quite an impression with his first appearance in the UFC Octagon. He clubbed Joseph Sandoval with a series of elbows that won him the fight by knockout early in the first round.
TUF 14 featherweight finalist Dennis Bermudez came as close as a fighter could to winning the ‘Ultimate Fighter’ crown without actually capturing it. Bermudez had his opponent Diego Brandao in serious trouble in the first round of their match-up, but got caught in an armbar late and was forced into submission.
Now Bermudez looks for redemption when he takes on one of the tallest fighters for his weight class, Pablo Garza.
Garza will look to rebound as well after losing his last fight to current UFC featherweight contender Dustin Poirier.
Prior to that Garza had picked up two wins in a row including a flying KO victory and a flying triangle choke, both of which earned him bonuses for his performances.
UFC on Fox 3 takes place on May 5 from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ.
