EliteXC on Friday announced that Bao Quach would replace Wilson Reis in a 145-pound bout on Saturday night’s ShoXC Challenger Series event at Table Mountain Casino in Friant, Calif.
Reis was not cleared to fight when he failed to turn in his paperwork on time to the California State Athletic Commission, according to EliteXC officials.
Quach enters the bout on a six-fight winning streak. He last competed at January’s ShoXC event in Atlantic City, N.J., where he defeated Bobby McMaster. His current streak includes victories over highly regarded featherweights Tenkei Fujimiya and Del Hawkins. Quach’s most recent loss was to current International Fight League champion Wagnney Fabiano.
He steps in to face Doug Evans, an Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran. Evans is looking to get back to his winning ways after losing both of his bouts in the Octagon. Prior to that, he was on a five-fight winning streak.
The bout is to be televised on Showtime. Other televised fights include Jared Hamman vs. Po’ai Suganuma in the main event, Shayna Baszler vs. Keiko Tamai, Fabricio Camoes vs. Joe Camacho, and Giva Santana vs. Matt Lucas.
