Anthony Perosh vs. Ryan Bader Booked for UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane

Posted on by Andrew Potter

Anthony PeroshAustralian light heavyweight Anthony “Hippo” Perosh will get the opportunity to fight in his home country once again when he takes on Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia, on Dec. 7, 2013 (Dec. 6 in the United States).

UFC officials confirmed the bout, which was first reported by The Daily Telegraph.

At the press conference to announce the show, Perosh was asked about a potential match-up with Bader, responding, “We’ll have to see, but there could be a match there.”

Perosh, 41, is a pioneering figure in Australian MMA. The fight with Bader in December will mark 10 years since the Aussie made his MMA debut in Queensland.

His opponent, Ryan Bader, is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Glover Teixeira last month in Brazil. Teixeira has been dubbed next in line to fight for the UFC light heavyweight title against the winner of this weekend’s Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson fight at UFC 165 in Toronto.

Headlining the UFC Fight Night 33 card is a five-round heavyweight clash between Mark Hunt and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva with James Te Huna vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua set as the co-main event.

don’t see how this ends well for perosh.

I agree, but you never know. Perosh is tough, hungry, and riding high after that super early KO on Vinny. This is a must win for Bader, a loss would certainly be detrimental to his career. A lot of pressure here, he really needs to polishing off some wins if he is going to make a legit title run. No offense to Perosh but I would like to see Bader get this one and get back up there in the mix, Perosh may be just a little too old at this point to make a run and really compete with the top guys. One thing is for sure, we are going to see someone getting finished.
