Anderson Silva Wants a Rematch with Nick Diaz

Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva is requesting a rematch with Nick Diaz. The Brazilian posted the request on his Instagram account on Wednesday.

Silva and Diaz are currently on temporary suspensions by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Silva failed drug tests for steroids prior to and after their UFC 183 bout in January, while Diaz failed his post-fight drug test for marijuana. It was the third time in his career that Diaz has tested positive for marijuana metabolites.

The two were scheduled to appear before the commission in March and April, but were granted continuances while they prepare their cases. The typical suspension for a first-time offender to steroids is a year, although the climate is drifting towards harsher punishments for performance-enhancing drug offenders.

For Diaz, it’s unclear what type of punishment he’ll face considering he’s a multiple-time offender and has been suspended twice before.

No, if you can’t fight clean the first time you don’t deserve a rematch.

I thought the first fight was boring, Nick laying down and acting like a knucklehead, Anderson very tentative to engage. I thought Anderson should have been able to take care of Diaz and he didn’t. No interest in seeing this again. Anderson needs to be quiet, take his suspension and that’s it. He keeps requesting time and he is facing at least a year anyway. Not sure we will ever see him fight again.

nick laying down was funny. silva not engaging as he usually does was because of a career ending leg injury he suffered from and it was his first fight in over a year. its all easier said than done but the way silva fought and won was the right way to go, even if you found it boring. and nick diaz is no slouch either when it comes to fighting.

You say Silva not engaging as he USUALLY does, is because of the injury. It can’t be as usual and be the first fight after the injury. Nobody was engaging in that fight. I love Silva and Diaz but it is not a fight I think the UFC will do again.

He should make up his mind about what he wants to do next…

    This is pathetic.

They have both failed drug tests so they are both on a level playing field.

He shoulda fought him the 1st time. ..

If Anderson claims to be clean why would he give Nick a rematch? If he can’t beat Diaz on steroids
this fight will be career suicide.

Silva vs. Diaz II should be on fox.

I’d be more interested in seeing Kimbo VS Shamrock than this shi1 again.

You fought a stoned welterweight while you were roided up and you still didn’t come close to finishing, no you want to do it again clean? Besides, that fight just sucked and nobody wants to suffer through a rematch. Tell ya what Andy, why don’t you just go win the Olympics, or finish the other 14 or whatever fights left on your contract against opponents that make sense.

Or just go the hell away and quit talking about what you want to do. You’ve always been weird but now you’ve clearly lost your mind entirely.
