Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva posted a photo to his Instagram account on Monday showing him going through physical therapy for his broken leg.  Silva snapped the tibia and fibula in his left leg while throwing a leg kick during the UFC 168 main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Dec. 28 against champion Chris Weidman.

The 38-year-old wrote, “Thank you for the affection of all. I’ll be good, I promise you I will.”

Retire dude, before you get very hurt and/or very embarrassed….seriously.

    • bajafox

Even if he does decide to come back, it won’t be against Weidman.

He still has 8 fights left on his contract, his legacy is secured. Why not take a money fight like Diaz/Silva?

    • Jo

embarrassed? what are you talking about? idiot

      • Don

Like he just did in his last two fights, you friggin moron.

        • paul

I’m just not sure how losing to the best in the world is embarrassing.

          • jo

Don what are you talking about is it ember

          • shane

            don is a complete moron.

          • Don

            And you are an idiot.

          • Lord of the Flies

            You are the idiot here.

          • Don

I guarantee you are, fudge packer.

          • Lord of the Flies

You can’t guarantee crap, especially with several people here calling you an idiot and a moron.

          • Don

Yes, I can. because the intelligent people who care to elaborate on what they say agree with me.

It’s the morons like you that leave one line responses that have nothing to say….well, except that you are butthurt that your precious hero got beat so bad, then broke his own leg! lmfao!

          • Jason Tracey

It’s embarrassing to have such disrespect and ill will towards someone that you do not personally know. You have a right to an opinion, but going as far as stating your joy for someone’s misfortunes is more than embarrassing, regardless if you even feel the right to say that this person deserved them or not. In reality, you are one of the biggest Anderson Silva fans ever; so much so, that you spend your time writing disrespectful things about him, rather than doing something positive. Thank you for your time.

          • Don

            Hey disrespected the art….

            The art disrespected him…

Drop your hands, clown around and do the monkey dance gets your head bounced off the canvas…

            c’mon….anyone knows this! :)

          • Jason Tracey

That is an irrelevant rebuttal, but good effort. Also, anyone would know that this athlete had “done the monkey dance” numerous times before resulting in some of the most revered showings in martial arts. The fact that a minority of the times doing this “dance” resulted in a loss does not make this quote,”Drop your hands, clown around and do the monkey dance gets your head bounced off the canvas…” a certainty by any means. Do yourself a favor and refrain from leaving such imbecilic comments in the future. Thank you.

          • Don

            It was very relevant actually.

Silva’s first knockout was a direct result of him thinking he was too good, and too fast for his opponent so he dropped his hands.

Resulting in him getting his head bounced off the canvas like a basketball.

Funny as hell and I watch the clip over and over :)

If you don’t like my comment, well, don’t read and respond to them….It’s a very simple concept :)

Dropping your hands to try and look cool, then getting knocked out because of that = hilarious.

NOT dropping your hands on the rematch and still get your eyes knocked to the back of your head, and then BREAKING YOUR OWN LEG? = Priceless! :)

If you don’t like it, then refrain from making such idiotic responses to me.

          • Don

“most revered showings in martial arts”

Ha! Good effort, and I detect a bit of idol worship here, but I’m game.

How about, “most silly showings in martial arts”

            Sounds a bit more accurate.

You may be the only person on the planet who enjoys watching superfluous showboating, but as we all saw, it eventually will result in getting the fighter knocked out…..and in Mr. Spider’s case, the ending of a career.

Here’s a suggestion…..Save the dancing for AFTER the fight….you know? like, when you actually won the fight!

          • Don

Drop your hands, do the monkey dance, and then get CRACKED so hard your eyes roll into the back of your head, when he could have retired undefeated possibly.

            That embarrassing.

Now he is a broken fighter.

          • Sir_Roy

Opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one. What people are picking up on with you, is it’s weak kicking people when they’re down … and only weak people indulge so vehemently in doing so.
Which is to say, in simple terms so you can understand, you sir are weak. Your character is exposed as weak. Your outlook is weak. Your moral integrity is weak. And though everyone is indeed entitled to an opinion, having an absolute lack of integrity as you so obviously do, makes your opinion absolutely worthless.

          • Don

And that little rant was weak.

            Butthurt much, simpleton?

          • Don

            “your opinion absolutely worthless.”

As well, as your last post, “sir”…

        • Jo

So you think its embarrassed if a guy has to loses in ufc? what a joke you are

          • Ron Bidelman Jr.

Yea when you clown around and disrespect then get knocked the fk out then you get your shin broke knowing youve probably kicked with that shin 100s of times and think your still champion material?? Yea id say thats pretty embarrassing. Whatc a joke you are….son

          • Hansa

WTF?? This guy was unbeaten for 6 years…Who cares if he clowned..had he beaten Weidman then people who’d said he’s a genious.. Don’t be rude and don’t disrespect the best p4p fighter in UFC history.

          • Ron Bidelman Jr.

Were not talking about his legacy dipshit. Were talking about bieng embarrassed in his last 2 fights. Who is bieng rude?? Quit changing what werfe talking about!!

          • Hansa

Ron, don’t need to be vulgar, and stop with the name calling. You clearly don’t have any manners.

          • Ron Bidelman Jr.

Your a MMA fan? Quit being so sensitive. And get ur hansa off my nutsa!!!

          • Hansa

You so funny…you should be a stand-up comedian..

          • Sir_Roy

            I’ll repeat the same to you, as it equally applies;

“Opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one.
And though everyone is indeed entitled to an opinion, having an absolute lack of integrity as you so obviously do, makes your opinion absolutely worthless.”

          • Don

It’s an embarrassment that he thought he was sooooooo good he could drop his hands, make faces, dance around at his opponents and get away with it.

I knew someone would finally catch up to him when he did that (ever so disrespectfully), and when he got cracked and his eyes rolled into the back of his head, he got what he deserved. POW!

So yes, he embarrassed himself! Now he should retire.

What a joke THAT was, you worthless excuse for a human.

          • MuayThaiFood

Well, he is pushing 40 so saying you knew someone would catch up isn’t exactly clairvoyant, genius. You aren’t really one to attack someone else for lack of respect since you have none. Weidman would love to someday have the “embarrassing” list of accomplishments that Anderson has in the sport.

          • Ron Bidelman Jr.

Were not talking about his legacy dipshit. Were talking about bieng embarrassed in his last 2 fights. Tired of these nuthuggers.

          • MuayThaiFood

Excuse me, Kunty Kunterson, but I wasn’t talking to you in the first place. Before you accuse me of going off topic maybe you should consider your dumb comments in relation to the article above. Not much in common. Why don’t you run along and start your own little hate group where the feeble minded can go to act like internet tough guys and use clever words like “nuthugger” and “fanboy” to your heart’s content? That wouldn’t be as much fun as being a troll though, would it junior?

          • Sir_Roy

Dropping his hands, taunting his opponent, are not signs of disrespect. Those unversed in fighting will see them as solely “disrespectful”. Those more in the know, recognize them as legitimate fight mechanics. Mohamed Ali drew the template years ago. Taunting and intimidation techniques are part of the fight game. Love them, hate them, when used well they have proven highly effective. In their first fight, they did exactly what Silva wanted them to do – they kept the fight on the feet. He, however, made a mistake and paid for it. That risk comes with the territory.
I feel you’re probably just trolling folks along at this point, Silva is one of the best of all time. You and your opinion do not matter in the slightest and change absolutely nothing. Save for proving the internet is still rife with posturing morons.

          • Don

“Dropping his hands, taunting his opponent, are not signs of
            disrespect.”

It’s a sign of cockiness, wrecklessness and disrespect for the paying fans. Any fighter who is ready to bring that type of cockiness should be ready for the serious consequences.

You will also get tons of boos from the crowd (you know, the people who paid money to see him fight), which Silva was starting to get tons of in his latter fights.

“Those unversed in fighting will see them as solely “disrespectful”.”

Those versed in fighting will see it as cocky, unwise and
begging for a KO, which Silva finally got!

“He, however, made a mistake and paid for it.”

Yeah, trying too much to be like Ali, which he is NOT. And even Ali found out that he could get cracked when he should not have been cracked just by being toooooooooo cocky.

It’s a “tactic” you say? No, more an ego thing than any type of real tactic, as those of us who are more well versed in fighting know. I spent years in and out of the ring. That’s one of those most idiotic and
disrespectful things you can do. “Duh, I’ma drop my hands and dance around! Maybe the people will like me more.” LMFAO!

Is sticking your tongue out like Vinny Pazienza used to do a
“tactic” as you say? Or is it sheer cockiness and stupidity? Yeah, exactly.

“That risk comes with the territory.”

It’s an unnecessary and meaningless risk of getting knocked out, like Silva seems to LOVE doing these days ;) He is becoming a master of being KO’d lmao!

“Silva is one of the best of all time.”

Sure is, and he totally screwed up a great thing by thinking
he could get away with asinine tactics.

Bounce goes the head off the canvas!

“You and your opinion do not matter in the slightest and
            change absolutely nothing.”

And neither do your opinions mean anything, genius boy. Wow, you are sharp! Lmao…. And why even respond, then? Butthurt?”

            “Save for proving the
internet is still rife with posturing morons.”

Yes, you are proving that quite well, my friend.

            Keep up with your legacy!

  • Ron Bidelman Jr.

Im so glad he will be fine. I wanna see him get his ass kicked again. Get well soon PaPa

    • Don

MMa Fanatic Said: “I wish I cld tell u to your face”

I wish you could learn how to read and write before you start showing the world how much of a simpleton you are.

(sits back and watches Sliva’s head get bounced off the canvas by opponent’s fist, over and over again….) :)

    • Don

      “embarressment” ?

Ha! You just embarrassed yourself, ding dong.

DON vs ANDERSON SILVA in his gypsum!

Who wants to see it??? :)

  • Mma fanatic

    Don
I didn’t think you even deserved proper spelling ! You sound like a typical bar stool fight commentator ! News flash ” every fighter loses eventually , the day they lose , all of sudden the gates rush open that he was never that good etc! Gladiators live and die on the shield ” as did Silva! And I for 1 am thankful for every master peice he ever painted in the octagon . Don go play in traffic bud!

    • Don

“I didn’t think you even deserved proper spelling”
      No, you are simply uneducated.

      And it’s “piece” not “peice”.

    • natpaukar7

Could not agree more…truly an artist…First time I’ve heard someone refer to Silva painting masterpieces..been saying this for years…he is a once in a lifetime artist…one I was lucky enough to witness…back or not…he’s the best that has ever lived and there is not currently a close contender to that status…IMO

  • taylor2008

I have to agree and disagree with Don. I disagree because thats Silvas way of fighting when he drops his hands and taunts. Ali did stuff like that. But I do agree to a point he was becoming very cocky with that. Even though I think Silva was the best middleweight ever….I had a feeling that game playing would catch up to him with a good patient fighter. Weidman was patient and KO’d Silva good. Second fight Silva had no answer. Weidman was just not going to play Silvas game. He would have taken him down again and put more hurt on him.
Still today many arent giving weidman his due. He fought Silva 4 rounds and took all 4 rounds. No fluke.

    • Don

Definitely. I always enjoyed watching Silva, but it was getting to a point, where his taunts would go on, and on, and on, and on…..to the point where he was not engaging his opponents.

You would hear the crowd boo’ing and every person in the packed venue I was in was boo’ing as well. Cocky or not, that dude is there to fight. We are paying his purse, and he is in that ring to entertain fight fans.

I used to really enjoy watching Silva (like I really used to enjoy watching Roy Jones Jr. in the early days).

Roy Jones Jr., too, got very cocky in the latter part of his career and eventually it got him KO’d. He was NEVER the same after that first KO, and now he is just a shell of his former self.

As much as I loved Silva’s previous performances, I think, just like Roy Jones Jr….. Once you get that cocky and get tapped that hard, the psychological effects may be irreversible.

If Silva proves me wrong, I will be the first person to admit it!

  • dr

Let me bring a little class to this debate gentlemen, whoo doggy, that weidman feller beat da crap outta dat silver feller twice!!!!

  • mendoza

Just the fact that silva is making a comeback and wants to fight gsp and not weidman means anderson knows weidman has his number.
