Anderson SilvaWhen Chris Weidman knocked out Anderson Silva to end Silva’s seven-year middleweight title reign at UFC 162 on July 6, fans inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena were stunned. Following the rematch on Saturday, they were left with the impression of Silva snapping his leg while throwing an inside leg kick early in the second round and collapsing to the canvas in excruciating pain.

Weidman left the cage with his belt and Silva was taken out on a stretcher headed to the hospital to undergo immediate surgery.

“He literally went from here straight to surgery,” said UFC president Dana White during the UFC 168 post-fight press conference.

When the initial shock wore off, people began to realize that they might have witnessed the 38-year-old legend fighting for the last time.

“This would be a tough thing to overcome and come back from at his age,” said White. “He’s one of the greatest of all time if not the best ever. It’s a (expletive) way to see him go out, but it’s part of the game.”

White didn’t speak to Silva following the fight. He kept his distance and let the former champion get the medical attention he needed.

“He was in no shape to talk to anybody,” said White.

White didn’t speculate on Silva’s fighting future.

“He’s an incredible human being. He’s done amazing things here at the UFC. Maybe he’ll want to make a come back. Who knows? I don’t want to count him out. I don’t want to count him in. It’s just really not the important thing right now. The important thing is he gets his surgery, heals up, and then we’ll go from there.”

First fight silva tried to cripple weidman by kicking at knee repeatedly. No sympathy

    • System

you must be new to mma

    • System

I saw you crying about kicks to the knee being dirty….. even tho its legal. SO are foot stomps illegal also?

      • John Bunch

idk about Weidman crying…but I def saw a cry of pain on Andersen’s face when that shin snapped…

Let me explain to those who cant comprehend. Anderson kicking directly at weidmans knees means hes trying to cripple weidman with the intent to do so. Regardless if legal or not. He intently tried to cripple weidman and silva is the one who ends up broken and everyone of you feminine guys are

Im surprised dana hasn’t announced silva weidman 3,4,5, yet. We will keep having rematches til silva wins, then if silva wins, chris won’t get rematch

Weidman’s counter technique to end the fight is as good as a KO in my opinion.

When a fighter gets knocked out, they can’t control if they go lights out from eating their opponents technique, just like Anderson couldn’t control if his leg got injured from the checked kick. If that checked kick technique is considered a fluke then every other perfectly timed KO technique in the history of MMA should also be considered a fluke.

Broke Anderson’s leg on his counter T.K.O

Weidman has horseshoe’s up his azz but it’s still a T.K.O

Wait…are people still making excuses for Silva after this??? Are you serious??? lmao….look, the failed Soviet experiment might have gone differently if Gorbachev had succeeded Lenin instead of Stalin…but that didn’t happen! Deal with reality folks…Silva clowned and lost and then simply lost the second time…he lost his GOAT crown…he can apologize to Demian Maia and practice the clown BS chacha dance that started him down this road to failure. Lesson to the kids…don’t be a clown…or you might end up like AS.
