Alexander Gustafsson sat on the sidelines from April until December waiting for a big fight to come along, but he doesn’t want to wait that long again.

Despite likely earning the next crack at either Jon Jones or Chael Sonnen with his win on Saturday night over legendary fighter Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Gustafsson doesn’t want to wait until summer 2013 to fight again, even if it’s for the UFC light heavyweight belt.

Check out this video with Alexander Gustafsson where he talks about his performance and his potential title shot in 2013:

I personally didn’t see much in that fight which made me believe Gustafsson can hang with Jones. Maybe the Jones that went the distance with Stephan Bonnar, but not the guy currently holding the strap. Although Gustafsson obviously has a bright future ahead of him, I think the longer he waits to face Jones, the better. Having said that, I’d rather see him fighting Jones than Chael (who has no chance), Machida (who has almost no chance), or Hendo (who has only a punchers chance). Only Bones fight I can get excited about at 205 is Spider. Other than that, bring on the HWs.

  • Ok Bones stop pretending to be some guy named Adam. You know in mma anything can happen on any given day.

haha…thats pretty funny! Nice one! You are absolutely correct, one of the things I love about the sport is anything can happen on any given day. I just think Gustaffson could use some more time to polish up his game before fighting me…I mean, Bones, before fighting Bones!
