- SWICK VS SAUNDERS ADDED TO UFC 99 IN GERMANY
Saturday, February 28, 2009 - by Damon Martin - MMAWeekly.com

A welterweight showdown has been added to the growing UFC 99 card, as the promotion ramps up its first show in Germany. American Kickboxing Academy fighter Mike Swick and American Top Team standout Ben Saunders have agreed to a bout on the June 13 card.
The bout has been offered and verbally agreed to, but bout agreements have not been issued as of yet. The matchup was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Saturday by sources close to the fight.
Mike Swick returns in June for the first time since his December drubbing of Canadian Jonathan Goulet at the UFC Fight for the Troops show. Since that time, Swick has been traveling and training abroad, but now returns home for training before heading back overseas to fight.
His opponent, Ben Saunders, was also featured on that same December card when he dispatched of UFC newcomer Brandon Wolff after a devastating barrage of knee strikes finally brought about the end of the fight in the first round.
Saunders was originally slated to face jiu-jitsu phenom Dustin Hazelett and then Ryan Madigan, as a part of the upcoming UFC 96 card in Columbus, Ohio; but a foot injury pushed him out of the fight and back to the June date.
The bout between Swick and Saunders is expected to be a main card bout, which will feature a main event between former middleweight champion Rich Franklin and former Pride champion Wanderlei Silva in a catch weight contest.
