UFC
87 features ten bouts headlined by the top two ranked welterweights in the
world, Georges St-Pierre and Jon Fitch.
St-Pierre
looks to defend his title for the first time, something he was unable to do
when he was previously the champion. Fitch, riding the longest winning streak
in Octagon history with eight consecutive wins, tied with mixed martial arts
legend Royce Gracie, wants to take the belt and sit atop the welterweight
division rankings as the undisputed No. 1.
Collegiate
wrestling champion and former pro wrestling superstar Brock Lesnar makes his
second appearance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship against UFC and Pride
veteran Heath Herring. Lesnar's hoping to prove he belongs while Herring would
like nothing more than to add the Lesnar name to his already impressive resume.
In
lightweight action, Kenny Florian and Roger Huerta have a lot on the line when
the cage door closes Saturday night in Minneapolis. The bout could easily be
considered a No. 1 contender’s match with the winner getting a crack at B.J.
Penn's title.
