- IFL GRAND PRIX SET, REESE ANDY IS FIGHTING
Monday, October 08, 2007 - by MMAWeekly.com

The International Fight League on Nov. 3 begins its first World Grand Prix at the Sears Centre in Chicago, Ill.
The event pits the top four fighters in each of the IFL’s five weight classes in a tournament-style format. The initial round, at the Sears Centre, features the two semi-final bouts in each weight category, while the final bouts will be held at the Mohegan Sun Resort on Dec. 29 in Uncasville, Conn.
The semi-final round is set despite some recent confusion over the heavyweight pairings. MMAWeekly reported this past weekend, based on information from a representative of the IFL, that Reese Andy would not compete in the Grand Prix due to previous injuries that were aggravated in training.
According to IFL commissioner Kurt Otto, that is not accurate. He stated that Andy is indeed competing in the Grand Prix.
The IFL’s web site has been updated to reflect Andy’s participation. He is scheduled to fight Antoine Jaoude in one-half of the heavyweight pairings, while Ben Rothwell faces Roy Nelson in the other.
