Masakazu Imanari is out of his scheduled fight against Jean Silva at Cage Rage 23. There are conflicting reports as to the reason why, but Cage Rage Promoter Dave O'Donnell has been informed that it is due to a shoulder injury.
Imanari is currently the featherweight champion in both the Cage Rage and DEEP promotions.
According to O’Donnell, Chris Brennan has been tapped to replace Imanari. Brennan will face Silva at Cage Rage 23 in what will now be a lightweight contest.
In additional news relating to the Sept. 22 fight card, MMAWeekly has learned that Mark Weir protégé Matt Ewin will replace Zelg Galesic. The former Cage Rage British Middleweight Champion, Galesic recently signed a contract to fight for the K-1 promotion.
Ewin faces Alex Reid at Cage Rage 23 to determine a new British middleweight titleholder.
