Ryan Couture, son of UFC legend and hall of famer Randy Couture, will make his professional MMA debut in the upcoming Strikeforce Challengers show on Friday, August 13 in Phoenix, Ariz.

In his first pro fight, Couture will take on local fighter Lucas Stark in a lightweight bout.

It's been just a matter of time for Couture to make his turn to pro MMA after posting a 5-1-1 record as an amateur. Training alongside some of the best in Las Vegas at Xtreme Couture, Ryan will lean on the team to get him ready for his upcoming fight in August.

Couture has fought in amateur bouts in some of the shows locally in Las Vegas as well as his father's former promotion Sportfight, ran by old friend Matt Lindland in Oregon.

Speaking with MMAWeekly.com prior to that fight, Couture said turning pro was something he took very seriously.

"The stakes go up when it's pro," said Couture when appearing on MMAWeekly Radio. "Everyone is paying more attention and your record really counts a lot more, so starting out as an amateur and getting some experience this way I can sort of get through some of those speed bumps that everyone has in their career before it's really important and it's really going to be held against me."

The timing was right and now Couture is ready to make it count.

The fight with Couture and Stark will be part of the upcoming Strikeforce Challengers card headed up by Arizona fighter Joe Riggs against Louis Taylor, and a one night four woman elimination tournament with the winner getting a title shot sometime in the future.
