Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

Press Release
Pangea Fight Enterprises Presents: “Tinseltown Battle.” Live Mixed Martial Arts action returns once again to the Hollywood Palladium on August 18th, 2006. This incredible fight card features some of the top young U.S. talent putting it all on line and battling it out in the city of stars!

In the main event Team Melitech trained fighter Sherman “The Tank” Pendergarst takes on the UFC, WEC, and KOTC veteran Aaron Brink. In what is sure to be an absolute war, these two Heavyweight combatants will be battling it out until one of the giants falls. Both fighters are predicting early knockouts which means you’re not going to want to blink during this one!

Also fighting on the main event card is Bakersfield “Bad Boy” and rising superstar Brian Cobb (6-2). Brian has been on an absolute tear winning his last 5 fights and establishing himself as one of the top 155lb fighters in Southern California. Brain will face another raising star in Mike Corey (3-1). Mike Corey (APEX Gym) from Saint Louis, Missouri, has 3 submission wins and is looking to get his 4 submission win against the talented Brain Cobb.

Pan American and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black-Belt Champion Ricardo Arrivabene will face Jared Hamman. Arrivabene is a submission master who recently moved to the US from Brazil and now trains with Jiu-Jitsu legends Regan, and Jean Jacques Machado. Stepping up to face Arrivabene and placing his undefeated record on the line Hamman (“Unbreakable Gym”) has three knockout victories in a row and is looking to preserve his undefeated record with yet another knockout win over Arrivabene.

US Chute Boxe fighter Anthony Johnson will be stepping in the cage to face Pangea Fights veteran and US Marine Jonathan Romero. Johnson is an explosive striker who can end the fight standing or on the ground! Rumor has it that the Chute Boxe fighter will have Brazilian Chute Boxe Team members Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Antonio “Nino” Schembri ringside to help cheer him and the rest of the Chute Boxe fighters onto victory! However, Jonathan Romero (Gracie Barra) is a very game fighter who can fight both standing and from his back. Though, Jonathan will most likely be looking to finish this one by submission. This should be another great fight between Gracie Barra and Chute Boxe!

Finally, you’re not going to want to miss Conor “The Hurricane” Heun (10th Planet) step back into the cage to take on the dangerous grappler and striker Ricky Cortez. Conor Heun is a collegiate wrestling All-American and National Wrestling Team member who started training Jiu-Jitsu with Eddie Bravo. “The Hurricane” is looking to prove the hype that he is truly one of the best young lightweight prospects in the US. Heun has all the tools to one day become a serious contender and a household name in MMA. Can Cortez shut down Heun’s takedown attempts? Can Heun avoid Cortez’s big punches? We’ll see August 18th, 2006!
