$75,000 Bonus Checks Handed Out Following UFC 137

Posted on by Jeff Cain

The Ultimate Fighting Championship handed out $75,000 bonus checks for in-Octagon performances following UFC 137. Nick Diaz, B.J Penn, Donald Cerrone, and Bart Palaszewski took home the bonus cash.

Fight of the Night went to the main event between Nick Diaz and B.J. Penn. The two fought to a decision. Penn had success early, but as the fight wore on, Diaz began to take over with his boxing and volume of strikes. Following the fight, Penn said UFC 137 could have been his last time inside the Octagon. Diaz took the opportunity to call out welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Knockout of the Night honors went to Bart Palaszewski for his first round knockout of Tyson Griffin. Palaszewski hurt Griffin with a punch and went in for the kill. He finished Griffin off with a combination that left Griffin unconscious against the cage.

The Submission of the Night award went to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Cerrone battered Dennis Siver on their feet before submitting him with a rear naked choke in the first round of their lightweight bout.
